| St Emilion, Bordeaux This property has been on fire since it was acquired by the Comtes de Neipperg (the owner of Canon-La-Gaffeliere and La Mondotte). A terrific effort, the thick, blue/black/purple-colored 2000 exhibits soaring aromas of coffee, blackberry liqueur, cedar, licorice, and Asian spices. In the mouth, the wine is compellingly concentrated, with sweet glycerin and highly-extracted flavors on the attack. There is noticeable tannin, but it never overwhelms this full-bodied, large-scaled, concentrated yet impeccably balanced wine. It is a classic offering meant for long-term aging. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2020. Rated 91-94 Robert Parker Loads of raspberry and cherry jam aromas in this one. Full-bodied and thick, as well as jammy. Medium finish, with medium tannins. Score range: 89-91 Wine Spectator |
