The château has earned its place as a member of the "Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux", the "Cercle Pomerol Prestige" and the "Académie des vins de Bordeaux". Comprising 17 hectares all in one single stretch of land, the Beauregard vineyard is favourably situated on the southern slop of the renowned Pomerol plateau, on the south-eastern edge of the appellation Beauregard's soils are composed of an upper layer of gravel, clay and sand and a ferruginous fossil sub-soil which is characteristic of the best Pomerol terroirs. Merlot : 65% Cabernet Franc : 30% Cabernet Sauvignon : 5% Merlot forms the basis of our wine, and comes from plots of older vines (20 years minimum) and gives the wine its fullness and typicity. The Cabernet Franc, taken from old vines planted on the clayey gravel on the Catusseau plateau; he gives the wine an aromatic complexity, elegance, and a long finish. The Cabernet Sauvignon picked late and perfectly mature provides exceptionally a slightly spicy and a great freshness. The average age of the vines is 30 years, and the planting density is 6000 vines/hectare. With expert pruning of the vines, yields are carefully controlled. Green harvests are carried out on young vines as required for the vintage concerned and leaf culling on both sides of the grapes is practised throughout the vineyard. The second wine, Le Benjamin de Beauregard, comes from young wines, and vines planted in sandy soils. It's a fruity wine, easy to drink young.
