Robert Parker Rating 90-92 A huge success (the finest Fombrauge I have ever tasted), proprietor Bernard Magrez, one of BordeauxÂs leading visionaries/revolutionaries, has taken St.-EmilionÂs largest estate from making light, fruity, innocuous wines, to one of the stars of the appellation. This blend of 71% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, produced from 24 hectoliters per hectare, is a hedonistÂs dream. It boasts a deep ruby/purple color in addition to a sweet perfume of kirsch liqueur, melted licorice, spice box, and sweet oak. Medium to full-bodied, dense, and rich, with low acidity, ripe tannin, and heady alcohol, this is a stunning effort from a St.-Emilion terroir that was not particularly well-favored by the weather conditions in 2003. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2014. Wine Spectator Rating 89-91
Very seductive and racy with beautiful fruit and mineral character. Full-bodied, with superfine tannins. Goes on and on. Well done for this estate Decanter Rating
