The name of an old Campbeltown distillery, Longrow was first distilled at Springbank in 1973. This whisky is double distilled in the traditional Scottish manner from malt dried entirely over a peat fire. It has inspired an obsessive cult following, due to its powerful peat smoke character and partly due to its very limited availability. Colour: Pale straw Nose: Unmistakeable. Dry, pungent peat smoke and subtle tar notes. Palate: Dominant peat character. A delicate vanilla sweetness from the bourbon casks subtly asserts its presence to give the perfect balance. Finish: The sweetness subsides and gives way to an intense peaty, smoky finale.
