Dark ruby-violet, nearly opaque in color, Clone 337 reveals a bouquet of currants, herbs and black raspberry with pepper. There is a lovely hint of smoky oak with coffee overtones and a hint of Bordeaux-like cassis-cedar nuance. It is medium-full bodied in texture, with noticeably firm but rich tannins. For a wine from such young vines, this is very stylish, and will need 5-8 years to mature fully. Decanting in the near future will enhance the aromas and soften the flavor. Serve with fine grilled meat dishes or a rich, hard piquant cheese like Cantal.
