After a season with optimum weather and growing conditions, our Clarksburg vineyards produced fruit full of ripeness and rich concentration. The resulting wine is our first red release of the 2000 vintage! Aromas of ripe cherries and cedar compliment this perfectly balanced Merlot. On the palate the bright cherry fruit and herbal tones lead beautifully into the complex finish: soft and silky, yet with ample tannins and spicy oak. Enjoy this wine with a wide range of food: from pasta with a light sauce to hearty meat dishes, or of course, just by itself!

Concha Y Toro Merlot Casillero Diablo

After fermentation and maceration, 75% of the wine is aged in small American oak for six to eight months, 25% is aged in stainless steel. It is then followed by an additional four months in the bottle. Casillero del Diablo Merlot is big in volume and smooth, while exhibiting great structure. The wine is excellent with a variety of meat and pasta dishes.
Dark and deep red color. Luscious fruit flavors: cherries, currants, berries and plums. On the palate, hints of chocolate and spice, generously framed by toasty American oak. It has a mouthfilling texture and is soft but well structured.

Extended contact with the skins during pressing, followed by 14 months in French oak barrels, intensifies the flavors of the grapes while adding nuances of toasted oak and vanilla.
