| St Emilion Bordeaux 2nd wine of Chateau Valandraud The controversial laying of plastic on part of the vineyard to avoid possible rainfall (which did not occur) was rejected by appellation authorities as a legitimate viticultural technique. There are 4,000 bottles of the non-vintage L'Interdit de Valandraud, which Thunevin was not allowed to vintage date (it's a 2000) or designate as a St.-Emilion. A dark color and good attack are followed by a pinched, lean mid-section, and an austere, acidic finish. Perhaps I had a bad sample, but I did not find this wine exciting. Rated 85-87 Robert Parker |
