Robert Parker Rating 90-92 Inky/purple to the rim, this wineÂs exceptionally low acidity gives it a fleshy, fat textural profile. With 14.5% alcohol, it is a blend of 70% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. Concentrated, dense, chewy, broad, and almost New World-ish, it should evolve quickly given its low acidity, but there is so much concentration, it should last for two decades. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2018. Wine Spectator Rating 89-91
Slightly jammy character but some decent berry and tobacco character. Licorice. Medium-to-full body. Medium tannins. Thick finish. Could turn out very serious indeed. 4,610 cases made Decanter Rating

Robert Parker Rating 93-95 A 5-acre jewel purchased by Gerard and Chantal Perse recently, this vineyard is planted on pure limestone soils above Pavie-Decesse and Pavie-Macquin. The average age of the vines is 45 years. Made from microscopic yields of 15 hectoliters per hectare, the 2003 (4,000 bottles produced) is a blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a dense ruby/purple-colored, full-bodied effort of formidable intensity. With provocative notes of melted licorice, incense, Asian spices, and blackberry as well as cherry liqueur, it possesses moderately high tannin but low acidity. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018. Wine Spectator Rating 89-91
Essence of crushed raspberries and wild strawberries with just a hint of dark chocolate. Medium- to full-bodied, with a lovely silky tannin structure but slightly hollow on the midpalate. Like it. Wait and see. Very close to 92-94 Decanter Rating

Wines Spectator Rating - 85/89
Very attractive aromas of blackberry and minerals. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a light finish.
Decanter Magazine Rating: 2 stars
Quite good colour, but should be deeper, pleasant Cabernet nose, but too much greenness on the fruit and not much length, some elegance but little depth. Drink 2006-12
Wine Magazine Rating: 87-90
This has good ripe blackcurrant fruit and ripe tannins and good texture. RJ was less impressed, finding a slightly jammy character. Steve Tanzer's Rating: 88-89 |

Robert Parker Rating 88-90 A surprisingly strong effort from this irregular performer, the 2003 Beychevelle possesses a deep ruby/purple color in addition to an attractive bouquet of flowers, crushed stones, red and black currants, and a hint of raspberries. Well-delineated, elegant, attractive, and easy-going, with low acidity and a forward style, it will drink well upon release, and last for 12-15 years. Wine Spectator Rating 89-91 Lovely silky wine with currant, mineral and berry character. Full- to medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a reserved finish. Delicious already. 21,110 cases made. Decanter Rating 3 stars Deep ruby, ripe blackcurrant fruit, but an edge of greenness and not quite the purity of fruit expected. 2009-17. |

Robert Parker Rating 92-94 A hugely successful effort from this consistent estate, BranaireÂs 2003 boasts a dense purple color as well as a big, sweet bouquet of plums, cassis, briery fruit, and hints of violets and minerals. Medium to full-bodied, with well-integrated tannin, outstanding purity, a textured, plump, nicely layered mouthfeel, and low acidity, this 2003 is somewhat reminiscent of the propertyÂs brilliant 1982. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020. Wine Spectator Rating 89-91
A very good wine with blackberry and currant aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, with good tannins. Balanced red. Harmonious. Decanter Rating 4 stars
Very deep ruby, very fine floral nose, violets and elegance on palate, lovely, silky tannins, a beautiful, classy Saint-Julien. 2009-20. |

Fabulous aromas of crushed berries, with cassis and blueberries and hints of spice. Full-bodied and very rich, with a wonderful tannin structure. Long and exotic.

Wine Magazine Rating: 83-87
Very, very classic St. Estèphe with tough tannins to spare. There is some good blueberry and blackcurrant fruit, but not quite enough concentration. Well see... Steve Tanzer's Rating: 90-93 |
